ISLAMABAD - Teams of Islamabad Police and Rawalpindi Elite Force have started joint patrolling in the twin cities and combined police pickets have been also set up at exits as well as entry points.
AIG (Operations) Islamabad Sultan Azam has said that an effective security plan has been devised to combat criminal elements in the twin cities. He said that teams of Islamabad Police and Punjab Elite Force have started patrolling in the both cities and eight vehicles of Elite Force are participating in this patrolling activity.
Five personnel from Elite Force and three ATS commandos of Islamabad police, present in each vehicle, would endeavour for effective patrolling as per plan. Joint police pickets have been set up at various entry as well exit points of the city. As per patrolling plan, three beats have been identified for patrolling which include the area from Koral to Faizabad, Faizabad to Pirwadhai and Tarnol Chowk to Margallah hills.
Several halting points have been also set up in various areas where checking has been started. In addition to these measures, other police vehicles and motorbikes would take part in this joint patrolling plan. AIG (Operations) said that purpose of this plan is to further improve the security with coordination. He said crackdown would be ensured against dacoits, car lifting gangs, proclaimed offenders in both cities and criminals, wanted to police of any district, would be transferred to the respective police station after their arrest.
