Addressing a press conference in the federal capital Wednesday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said Election 2013 was massively rigged but PTI accepted the results for the sake of future of democracy.
Unveiling the Whitepaper comprising 2,500 pages about the rigging in General Elections 2013, Imran said whole Pakistan would have come to streets if PTI had given a strike call after the election results.
“Purpose of my press conference is not to upset the democratic process but to ensure that corrupt practices were not repeated in future.
People of Pakistan would lose faith in the whole democratic process, if rigging continues in future also.
“Voters came out to cast votes in 2013 elections despite serious security ricks in all parts of the country but were frustrated to see the results.
Imran said PTI accepted the results of May 11 elections because it wanted the democratic process to move forward.
“It is for the first time in history that all parties, including PML-N, complained about the poll rigging.
Our demand for recounting in four constituencies is only to show an example of rigging and to ensure that this practice is not repeated in future.
The PTI chairman said a record 400 complaints have been lodged about irregularities in the Elections 2013.
In one of the constituencies Sarghoda the number of registered voter was 3000 and Nawaz Sharif got 8000 votes.
Jahangir Tareen was winning according to the results being displayed on media screens but after some time he was declared loser, Imran said.
He said the results issued by polling staff and the announced by Returning Officers were different.
Referring to the victory speech by Nawaz Sharif after partial announcement of partial results, Imran said PML-N leader was in fact directing some people that he wanted a thumping majority.
“When Nawaz said he wanted to go to come to power with a heavy mandate, he was giving a message to someone,” Imran said.
Imram also rejected the holding of LG elections on non-party basis.
