ISLAMABAD - Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Shin Un said Friday that the Korean Government was making all out efforts to promote Korean Language and for this purpose is sending a number of Korean Language instructors to Pakistan, says a press released issued here. He was addressing the students and faculty members at the 3rd Korean Speech Contest at NUML. He said that out of them, three instructors will be on the faculty of the University. He further informed the audience that Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has also planned to donate next month a number of books and educational equipment such as computers, multimedia etc worth 20,000 US $ for the Korean Centre being set up soon at NUML. Besides, Korean companies operating in Pakistan will be encouraged to recruit graduates of Korean Language department of the University, the Ambassador added. Dr Kamran Jahngir, Director General NUML, in his welcome address, informed the gathering that previously Pakistan students aspiring to seek admission in Korean institutions were required to qualify test of proficiency in Korean Language from India but today this test is locally available with the establishment of the Korean Department at NUML. He said the Korean Language Department at University has made marvellous achievement in a short span of three years. The department now runs courses from certificate to diploma to advance diploma and the number of students has risen to 30 from 3 in 2006.
