ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People's Party (PPP-P) stalwart Aitzaz Ahsan said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his maiden address to the nation had not given any clear policy and it was just an attempt to gain political advantages in the by-elections.
The Prime Minister had not touched important issues of the country in his address including strategies to deal with terrorism, agriculture, missing persons, water and power crises and Pak-Iran gas pipeline, he said while addressing a press conference at the PPP's Secretariat here. He was flanked by PPP's leader Qamar Zaman Kaira.
Aitzaz said that the PM in his address had not given clear solutions or policy guidelines to the masses that were waiting for any good news in his first address.
The PPP leader said that Nawaz followed the policy introduced by the PPP that was about 3Ds (Dialogue, Development and Deterrence), adding that, however, Sharif missed the third 'D' and stressed upon only development and dialogues.
About PM's offer for negotiating with terrorists, he said that the statement is complex and not clear. Aitzaz said although the incumbent government has passed only over two months after assuming the charge but still they could not be able to set any proper direction.
About Drone attacks, he said that there was no different between the police of incumbent government and PPP's government on drone attacks.
"It seems there is no difference between the policy of incumbent government and our era. Though we could not able to halt drone strikes but now its up to present government how they deal with this issue," he added.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not mention any policy about agriculture. "It is a matter of deep concern as the PM has not touched important matter subject of agriculture in his address," he added.
About the local bodies election, PPP's stalwart Qamar Zaman Kaira raised a serious objection for holding the non-party based local bodies elections in Punjab. "We condemn it and would resist at every forum as its totally un-democratic," he maintained.
To a question, Aitzaz Ahsan said that PPP would not do friendly but decent opposition. "PPP would not leave decency in his opposition and will take a strong stance on different issue," he added.
To a question about PPP's leader Zamrud Khan, he said that Zamurd was of the view that Zamrud by putting his life in danger saved Nisar Ali Khan, as the matter was not in control of the incumbent government. "Sikandar could further delay his drama but Zamurd by his brave action put the drama to an end," he added.
