ISLAMABAD - Speakers at an obituary reference organised in the memory of Professor Khwaja Masud, an educationist and intellectual said that he was a ray of light for Pakistani nation as well as a lovely human being and would be remembered for his struggle. There was certain charisma in his personality and his presence in every cultural programme of the capital portrayed his love for culture, art and literature, the admirers of late Prof Khwaja expressed. The obituary reference was organised at Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) office and many politicians, intellectuals, poets, human rights activists, workers of different communist parties, the family members of Prof Khwaja, friends and admirers participated in the reference. His admirers termed the services of Prof Khwaja for art, literature, culture and philosophy marvellous saying there was diversity in his knowledge on art, philosophy and politics. They said that he had youthful passion, always optimistic in his approach and taught punctuality to all of us. They said that he was a man of enlightenment and thought that the nations backwardness owed to the fact that it had not gone through renaissance and enlightenment. Chairman NLA Iftikhar Arif while paying tributes to Khwaja, said that in English journalism he was the only progressive writer to highlight the ideas of left and raised his voice even in the difficult times of the dictator Zia-ul-Haq. Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy while remembering his memories said that he met Khawaja 25 years ago in the regime of Zia-ul-Haq at Government College Lahore and Prof had revealed to him that the major cause of low progress of the people of Indo-Pak in the area of Mathmatics was that Sheikh Ahmed Sirhindi had issued a decree (Fatwa) against Mathmetics. He however, said it was amazing for him why Khwaja was a great admirer of Allama Iqbal.
