RAWALPINDI – A 19-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan here at Rahimabad, apparently in distress for losing her mother, who had passed away some one and half years ago.
On getting information, police and rescuers moved the dead body to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) for autopsy. According to Sub Inspector Muhammad Khan, who is investigating into the matter, Sumera Iqbal was living with her father Iqbal Hussain and an elder sister in Rahmiabad Street Number 9 and all the time missed her mother, who departed one and half years ago.
On the day of incident, Sumera got up at dawn and prepared “Sehri” for her family to observe fast, said SI in addition with she started saying how she could observe fast without her mother and on the next moment she went to her room situated on the first floor. There, the girl tied her shawl with ceiling fan and committed suicide by hanging herself, the police officer said. The dead body was shifted to DHQ for postmortem and later was handed over to the heirs for burial.
