ISLAMABAD – A meeting of the Islamabad Quality Control Board (IQCB) here on Thursday decided to suspend the licenses of seven medical stores, falling in the limits of capital territory, for violating drug laws and to send four other cases of the stores fro prosecution in this connection. The 36th meeting of Islamabad Quality Control Board (IQCB) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada that was attended by deputy commissioner, district health officer (DHO), drug inspector Islamabad and representives of Drug Regulatory Authority.
Drug inspector submitted 11 cases of violations by the drug stores in the jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital territory (ICT). The board approved four cases of medical stores for prosecution, which violated the Drug Act, 1976. Similarly, licenses of seven medical stores were suspended on account of contravention of drugs law.
The board also recommended Drug Regulatory Authority to take up the issue of registration of life saving drugs urgently in the public interest. The board also approved the policy for storage of thermolabile drugs wherein only those chemists will be allowed to store such drugs that would have alternate power arrangements.
