Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chairman Raja Zafar ul Haq on Tuesday rejected Indian’s claims that occupied Kashmir was an integral part of India.
Addressing a press conference here, Haq said that India itself took the Kashmir issue to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and held out assurances to the international community that UNSC decision would be implemented.
India has now started making excuses not to implement UN’s resolutions on Kashmir, he said.
The PML-N Chairman noted the UN has so far adopted 23 resolutions, which show that Kashmir is a disputed territory. There is no need for any new resolution, he asserted.
He maintained that Kashmir was a core issue between Pakistan and India and without its resolution, there could be no durable peace between the two nuclear-armed nations.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif firmly raised the issue of Kashmir at the recent UN session.
“It is his desire that Pakistan and India should utilize their resources for welfare of its people by resolving the Kashmir dispute,” he added.
