Govt servants to get 2,200 plots near Bhara Kahu

ISLAMABAD- Federal Minister for Housing Rahmat Ullah Kakar has announced development of 2,200 plots for government servants on Simly Road near Bhara Kahu. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Rahmat Ullah Kakar informed that development work of 5, 10 and 20 marlas plots on 3000 kanal land on Simly Road would start within next two months and would be completed in two years. Booking forms for the plots would be advertised during next two weeks, adding a 10 marlas plot would be given for about Rs 1.25 million to government servants. He said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had ordered CDA to issue NOC to the Ministry for the project within one month. The minister said that the housing ministry could not initiate any project during the last five years, but he said due to keen interest by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Zardari, the Ministry availed government land to develop housing schemes for government servants and poor people of the country. He further said that 3,500 flats would be constructed in Rawalpindi while 10,000 apartments would be developed in Karachi. He said that the Ministry was also entering into joint venture with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Army Welfare Trust and the later offered 500 kanals land on Adyala Road Rawalpindi, feasibility of which is being carried out, he said. He informed that 1000 flats in I-16, 1000 on Bhara Kahu main road and other 5,000 apartments just five kilometers ahead of Bahara Kahu were in planning stage. He said that Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) and the Ministry of Housing would invest no money in the said schemes but the same would be executed by private sector on their own land. The minister further said that re-development of G-6 was also under consideration and consultations with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) were being underway in this connection. He said that after re-development of the sector, 40,000 flats would be constructed in place of presently available 4000 apartments and 200 flats. He said that 1500 apartments were being developed in sector G-13 while 18 out of 84 apartments in G-11/4 would be allotted within next two days. He said that the ministry was also carrying out similar projects in smaller cities like Turbat, Larkana, Peshawar and other areas. He said the process would be relatively transparent, as the government would invest no money in the mentioned schemes.
