ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chief Commissioner Islamabad Kamran Lashari held a detailed meeting with public transport association and Islamabad Transport Authority officials in order to rationalise and reduce the public transport fares in the capital territory and provide relief to the commuters. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner ICT Amer Ali Ahmad, ADC (G) ICT Rana Akbar Hayat, Secretary ITA Bashir Ahmed and all the stakeholders. Amer Ali told that as a result of the detailed negotiations with transporters, the fares had been considerably reduced. He told that minimum fare has been reduced from Rs 12 to Rs 10 whereas maximum fare has been reduced from Rs 22 to Rs 20. He said the step would surely give some relief to the commuters. He informed that ICT Administration, as per practice, adopted the same public transport fares Notification in ICT which was issued by the government of Punjab. He said that fares of remaining stages would also be revised and rationalised, as to be notified by the government of Punjab very soon, and then maximum relief would be provided to the commuters. Meanwhile, Secretary ITA Bashir Ahmed told the meeting that he was conducting daily traffic checking to ensure the completion of routes by the public transport vehicles and charging the fixed fares by the transporters.
