Faulty HFH ventilators annoy patients, attendants

RAWALPINDI– Out-of-order ventilators of the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), Rawalpindi are annoying the patients and their attendants but the authorities concerned are least concerned to the problems of the citizens.
Ventilators are used to provide life support to the patients under intensive care. The Holy Family Hospital has total 16 ventilators in all its wards, while half of them are faulty and the remaining are very below the required standards. The hospital administration is not interested in repairing the instruments.
It is quite relevant to mention here that Roshan Bibi, wife of Gulzar, who was severely injured in a road accident, was brought to the hospital the other day. She could not survive because she was not provided a ventilator due to the shortage.
When contacted in this regard, In-charge, Dr Jawad refused to comment on the issue, saying MS Dr Fiaz could better comment of the matter. When tried to contact, the MS could not be reached on his mobile phone.
The residents of the city have demanded of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and the health authorities to take notice of the situation and make sure repair of the old ventilators and provision of new ones in the hospital.
