ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Senator Raza Rabbani has resigned from the membership of Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment and Senator Farooq H Naek has replaced him.
Sources said that Senator Rabbani had some serious reservations over the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment, which made him to tender resignation. Separately, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned judicial commission meeting on September 02.
Federal law minister and others members of the commission would attend the meeting, which would consider making permanent six judges of Lahore High Court.
Delay in by-polls protested: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other allied parties held protest demonstration against postponement of by-elections in NA-25 Tank on Friday.
According to details, PTI and coalition parties have demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct by-polls in NA-25 Tank in three days.
Leaders and workers of the PTI, Jamat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Sherpao group participated in the protest. Addressing to protestors, leaders said that the circumstances of Tank had not worth postponement of by-elections, adding that not even a single suicide blast ever occurred in the area. They said that a member of provincial assembly (MPA) had been killed in Hangu, however, by-elections were conducted in other cities despite the worst circumstances.
The protesting leaders said that if the ECP failed to announce the date of holding by-polls in NA-25 Tank in three days then their protest demonstrations would block all roads including Wana and Tank road till the demands are met.
