ISLAMABAD - Twelve Pakistani middle-school students earned singular honour by taking a leading position among 600 foreign students while participating at 11-day Beijing International Summer Camp concluded this week in China.
This was the first time Pakistan middle school students along with their two teachers took part in the camp, on the invitation of the Chinese government and one of the students Danial Kamal represented the 600 students to deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the camp.
The students were welcomed back at a reception held here on Tuesday night at the Chinese embassy.
Wife of Chinese Ambassador Bao Jiqing in her speech at the reception congratulated the Pakistani students for their active participation in the camp.
While appreciating the students, Bao Jiqing said they had done a wonderful job in showing Pakistani culture and spirit to both Chinese and international students at the camp. Their participation was most impressive in promoting their country’s soft image.
Based upon this year’s successful experience, the Chinese government will expand the size of Pakistan students’ delegation to Beijing Summer Camp next year so that more Pakistan middle school students can have opportunity to visit Beijing and get true experience of Chinese history and Chinese culture, she added.
Madam Bao Jiqing on the occasion presented flowers to the two teachers Ansar Ayesha and Mehsoona Waqar as a token of Chinese government’s goodwill towards the Pakistani people. The students acted as young ambassadors of their country for further deepening the decades’ old Sino-Pak brotherly relationship, said Ayesha Ansar, leader of the Pakistani students’ delegation.
The students’ representatives also spoke at the reception and said the visit helped them in confidence-building and personality development. Their visit was a great opportunity to understand the vibrant Chinese cultural and social values. The Chinese government, they said, provided them warm hospitality during their stay in Beijing.
