Workshop to promote research in Mathematics

ISLAMABAD - A one-day workshop on "Computational Mathematics and Related Topics" held on Monday aimed to promote research activity in the field of Mathematics.  Mathematics Department of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad had organized the workshop at auditorium of Pakistan Academy of Sciences.  The workshop was aimed at bringing together practising Applied and Computational Mathematicians to exchange the recent research and promote the research activity in Pakistan, generally and at COMSATS particularly. World-renowned Mathematicians Prof. Dr Abdual Qayyum M. Khaliq from Middle Tennessee State University, USA and Prof. Dr Abdul Majeed Siddiqui from Penn. State University, USA delivered lectures. Prof. Dr Muhammad Azeem acting Rector CIIT was the Chief Guest of the event. Addressing the gathering he said, "The CIIT has had a desirable record of expansion and development, therefore, it is being ranked at number 5 among 128 universities of Pakistan and ranked at number 2 among Islamabad-based universities according to the latest HEC ranking record." Prof. Dr Q. K Ghori delivered valuable speech about the topic. Dr Moiz-ud-Din highlighted that the main objective of the workshop that was to bridge the gap between the Mathematicians and Finance & Industry. A large number of faculty members and students also attended the workshop.
