Sunday Bazaar loses utility

RAWALPINDI  – The weekly Sunday Bazaar at Committee Chowk has lost its utility as it failed to provide the citizens with items of daily use on controlled rates due to slackness of the administration.
The residents talking to INP said that some of the stall holders have not even displayed the controlled price list and are selling goods on inflated prices. They said that if shoppers ask to sell the goods on controlled rates, the vendors misbehave with them and tell them to buy the goods from somewhere else.
The residents said that they complained to the administration many a times but they did not take any action against rude shopkeepers. When asked, officials of the weekly bazaar administration said that they were not authorized to challan any stall holder, therefore they were helpless even if shoppers complain to them.
Meanwhile, garbage and trash keep laying at the venue of the Sunday Bazaar for the whole week and is only cleaned on Saturday every week.
This condition creates smell in the bazaar and in the adjoining areas.
The residents demanded of the concerned authorities to make it obligatory for the stall holders to display rate lists on their stalls and ensure sanitation of bazaar. They also appealed to the area magistrate to visit the weekly Sunday Bazaar to witness its condition and take effective steps for its betterment.
