RAWALPINDI - The police have made comprehensive security plan to guard the Eid congregations and to main law and order situation in the district on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The security plan was finalised here on Tuesday in meeting held presided by City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher. The other participants of the meeting were SSP Operations, SP Saddar, SP Potowar Division, SP Rawal Division, DSPs and SHOs.
According to security plan, a total of 2300 police cops would be deputed in all the markets, shopping centers and other important places to keep a vigil on suspicious elements and to maintain peace on Chaand Raat. Moreover, some 3000 Police Jawans including police officers would be assigned the task to protect the Eid congregations, mosques, Imambargahs and parks during Eid prayers.
The commandos of Elite Force along with ladies police and Mohafiz Force would also ensure foolproof security arrangements with Punjab for the safety of the people.
CPO Azhar Hameed Khokher directed all the SPs and DSPs to improve the security plan and ensure checking of every person through metal detectors at mosques and Imambargahs in their respective jurisdictions. He also ordered the police officers and cops to not allow the entry of more than one person at a time in the open Eid congregations. The vehicles owners should also not be allowed to park their vehicles within the radius of 500 meters of the Eidgahs, mosques and Imambargahs. Walk through gates should also be placed at entry points, he added. Similarly, police should beef up security around the public parks and on the roads leading towards the parks to ensure the safety of families throng in the parks, CPO said.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar, has directed the authorities concerned to take concrete step for the treatment of sacrificial animals suffering from any disease including Congo virus so that the citizens could be protect from any threat.
He also ordered the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR), law enforcers and District Peace Committee to make foolproof security arrangements around mosques, Eidgahs and Imambargahs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to avoid any untoward incident. The DCO issued these directions in a meeting held at his office here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Allama Pir Syed Izhar Bukhari and other members of DPC included Maulana Muhammad Akram Hamdani, Maulana Abdul Zahir Farooqi, Mufti Muhammad Umar, Mufti Muhammad Manzoor, Maulana Syed Ahmed Mughal, Ghulam Shah Ashfaq Waheedi, Shaukat Abbas Jaffri, Nasir Abbas Jaffri and Maulana Mehmud ul Hassan.
Syed Izhar Bukhari, on the occasion, gave proposals and suggestions on behalf of the delegation of Ulema Karam that there was dire need to keep an eye on strange butchers so that they could not be able to succeed to commit any sort of terrorism, robbery, or dacoity in the houses of citizens.
The DCO welcomed the proposals of the delegation and said that special branch of police department would issue special cards to the members of mosque and Imambargah committees to bar the infiltration of anti-social elements. He directed the members to provide their data to SP for the issuance of security cards.
He appealed the civil society to cooperate with law enforcers to tackle any possible threat of terrorism on the eve of Eid. DCO asked the civil society to not allow any stranger butcher to enter their houses to butch the sacrificial animals.
DCO asked that walk through gates should be installed in front of all important and outside big Eidgahs. He said that special security cards should also be issued to the volunteers of mosque and Imambargahs committees to assist the forces in security arrangements.
