Salsa training session delights special kids

ISLAMABAD - National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS) Friday offered an opportunity to special children as well as general people to participate in a dance-training workshop. Martina Roche, professional dancer from United Kingdom conducted the training session at the Hall of Changing Exhibitions, Heritage Museum Lok Virsa. Seep Mufti, Programme coordinator told TheNation that after the children and elderly people session, there would be a one-hour session for others and second dance workshop would be held on May 1st. It was observed that special children from various federal capital schools and students of National Institute of Cultural Museum welcomed Martina Roche, expert from the United Kingdom. During the one-hour session Salsa dancing (a dance for Salsa music created by Spanish-speaking people from the Caribbean and their immigrant communities in the US), children of special care took part enthusiastically. They learnt basic Salsa steps and excitedly danced with the rhythm of music. When the tempo of music got fast, their captivating performance was appreciated by huge round of applause. The next one-hour was reserved for the students of NICS who learnt Salsa beats from professional guest dancer. The event continued for two hours and freshened the mood of visitors who also accompanied with special children. This type of dance training not only enhances these childrens self esteem but also improves their ability to move limbs and unused muscles, Rauf Khalid President National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS) said. While talking to the media persons Martina Roche expressed her views that facilitating special children with enjoyable event like this dancing workshop, could brought them happiness as all age of people enjoy music passionately. While answering a question concerning security issues in Pakistan she said that she had visited several countries, the security issue remained everywhere. It is worth-mentioning here that The National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS) that offers well-formed educational programs through one year diploma courses comes with the commitment of the highest possible quality in all its educational, training and grooming activities that prepare its students for the professions and challenges of the twenty first century. At present the NICS offers the following professional education programs like Event Management, TV Production, Interior and Product Designing. Aqeela Tariq Rauf Khalid President NICS said that NICS has intended to organise further programs beneficial for special children and elderly person.
