No accused can be sent abroad for treatment: Govt

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid has said that no accused can be allowed to go abroad for medical treatment.
In a statement on Friday after the submission of former dictator Pervez Musharraf’s medical report before special court, Rashid added that he was surprised to learn that Musharraf was reluctant to get treatment from that hospital whom he eagerly choose and managed his admission there.
“The government will not allow any accused to enjoy decision-making power in order to visit abroad for treatment. If it is allowed that no accused will stay in country’s prison and will take a flight by taking decision himself,” Pervez Rashid mentioned.
The minister said that Musharraf took life risk and was admitted in AFIC after 45 minutes drive according to his own wish but now he is expressing no-confidence over the same hospital. “Millions of angiographies have been taken place in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) with no complaints from anyone,” Rashid added.
