Police bust gang of auto thieves

ISLAMABAD – Police team of rural areas of Islamabad on Thursday busted a gang of auto thieves including Afghans and recovered six cars and a motorbike worth of million of rupees from their possession.
The team was constituted by Superintendent Police Faisal Bashir Mamon, which was headed by DSP Malik Tahir Mehmud, to ensure arrest of car thieves who have long been involved operation in rural areas of Islamabad.
The nabbed auto-thieves have been identified as Tariq, Iftikhar, Israr, Sajjad, Inayat Ullah and two Afghan nationals Adnan Khan, Arshad Khan. The details of cars recovered from them is as follows: Cultus Car LWL-402, Corolla Car RLC-8592, Van CR-1803, Corolla Car LOM 8948, Corolla RM-723, RLE-1721 and one Honda motorbike ID-4182.
According to the police, the arrested persons have confessed their involvement in car thefts in the areas of Loi Bher, Sihala and Industrial area. Further investigation is underway and the police are hopeful for more recovery from them.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan told a group of local traders that the Islamabad police were committed to inculcate friendly police ecology and eliminate activities of anti-social elements through cooperation of citizens.
The top police officer of federal capital police assured the traders to enhance security measures at business centres through mutual cooperation. The delegation, headed by President Traders Organization Blue Area Sheikh Abdul Saleem, included Chairman of traders body Ch. Javed, Senior Vice President Tahir Qayyum, Information Secretary Zubair Kiani, Secretary Abdul Raheem and others.
The IGP Bani Amin Khan assured full cooperation to business community for safe and conducive environment to them. He said that liaison of business as well as traders community with police will be enhanced and effective security to be ensured at trade centers.
The traders’ delegation asked IGP for cooperation of police in installing security cameras at various plazas in Blue area and boosting security measures.
The IGP assured full cooperation and provide guidance to them in installing these cameras.
The delegation appreciated Islamabad police for safe recovery of abducted owner of Mr. Books and arrest of kidnappers. They thanked IGP for special efforts of the force in ensuring friendly environment to investors.
