ISLAMABAD - Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer, arranged a fabulous reception at the Embassy Compound Tuesday evening to celebrate 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf was the chief guest among hundreds of Pakistani politicians, religious leaders, civil and military officials and senior foreign diplomats. The guests were treated with traditional Saudi and Pakistani dishes served amid festive atmosphere. The huge lawns were decorated with photos while a group of children enthralled the guests with traditional Saudi dance and songs. Ambassador Ghadeer was all time happy while welcoming the guests who were often found waiting in queue wherever the ambassador moved ostensibly to greet him on this special occasion. After the Prime Minister left the reception, Saudi ambassador moved from one corner to another to greet his guests, making sure that none of the invitees left without his interaction.
In an exclusive chat with this scribe, Ambassador Ghadeer said Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoy brotherly relations flourishing in all fields. He was glad that the inter-ministerial commission of the two countries was meeting in Islamabad on this special occasion. The commission, he said, would discuss bilateral cooperation in commerce and industry. People of Saudi Arabia are celebrating the National Day in the Kingdom and other parts of the world. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates today its 80th Anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud in 1932. It is the world’s leading exporter of oil, which accounts for 90% of its export earnings and 75% of govt revenues. The country has the world’s largest oil reserves.
