Former DG health remanded


 RAWALPINDI - Former Director General Health Dr Asad Hafeez has been sent to Adyala Jail on   remand of 14 days by Special Magistrate Anti-Narcotics Force in ephedrine smuggling scam here on Thursday. Special Magistrate Shafqat Ullah Khan sent the former DG Health to Adyala Jail on judicial remand and directed the ANF officials to produce the accused on July 30, the next date of hearing. However, the ANF officials shifted the accused former DG Health to Armed Forced Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) where he has been admitted and being cured for cardiac problem. Former DG Health Dr Asad Hafeez is facing legal action for illegally allocating huge quota of Ephedrine to two pharmaceutical companies in 2010.The ANF official arrested Asad Hafeez a month ago for his alleged involvement in Ephedrine quota allocation scam as DG health but he has been hospitalised in AFIC with symptoms of heart problem.
