ISLAMABAD - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is all set to initiate probe into the Malik Riaz and Arsalan Iftikhar as soon as the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Islamabad Police would recommend the names for the joint investigation team.Sources in the bureau informed TheNation that Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari had not wasted a moment and as soon as the direction from Attorney General of Pakistan was received to form a joint investigation team comprising NAB, FIA and Islamabad Police to probe the charges levelled by Malik Riaz against scion of Chief Justice of Pakistan Arsalan Iftikhar, he had forwarded the request to both these departments to nominate officers to be part of the joint investigation team but so far both these departments had not given any nominations. Sources in the NAB informed that Attorney General of Pakistan had just recommended JIT comprising NAB, FIA and Islamabad Police but keeping in view the nature of probe he had included a person from Banking Tribunal and a legal expert to also be part of the team so that the matter could be dealt with properly. To a question the sources said that NAB would be heading the JIT while FIA, Islamabad Police, Banking Tribunal and legal experts would assist them in handling this high profile matter.When contacted NAB spokesman said that they were awaiting nominations from FIA, Islamabad Police and other departments and as soon as they would receive the nominations they would constitute the Joint Investigation Team and initiate probe into the scam.To another question he said that they have taken up the case on the direction of the Attorney General of Pakistan and would deal with the matter on urgent basis but refused to give any definite date for initiation of the probe.However, some insiders in the department said that the probe into the matter would be initiated in a next few days.It is pertinent to mention here that the scandal involving Malik Riaz and scion of Chief Justice of Pakistan hit the limelight when taking notice of a media reports Chief Justice of Pakistan had taken suo motu notice of the matter and later after initial hearing on the matter from both sides directed the Attorney General of Pakistan to refer the case to Government for thorough investigations into the allegations both Malik Riaz and Arsalan Iftikhar were leveling against each other.
