ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a three-member committee under the head of Federal Minister Zahid Hamid to come up with recommendation for new legislation to help overcome the legal vacuum created after the passage of 18th Constitutional Amendment.
He constituted the committee after having a detailed briefing on the working of law ministry from Law and Justice Secretary Barrister Zafarullah here on Saturday. Other members of the committee are Special Assistant to PM Khawaja Zaheer and Law Secretary Barrister Zafarullah.
During the briefing the PM, who also holds the portfolio of law and justice, directed the secretary that court decisions should be respected and implemented in letter and spirit. “We respect judiciary and believe in active and independent judicial system. Our party has remained part of the movement for restoration of independent judiciary,” he remarked. He added that accountability and rule of law should be the government’s objectives and be followed in all matters.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif observed that after passage of 18th amendment, the necessary legislation has not been made and this has created a legal vacuum.
PM assures of meeting all needs of PAF: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday assured that despite economic crunch all needs of PAF would be met. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed these views during his meeting with Air Chief Marshall Tahir Rafiq Butt at the PM House on Saturday.
Professional matters relating to PAF came under discussion during the meeting. PM assured air chief that government will provide maximum assistance to PAF and undoubtedly would not leave any stone unturned to make the country’s defence impregnable.
On this occasion, PM Nawaz Sharif expressed his determination that his Government would make all possible arrangements for the security and stability of the state.
The Air Chief Tahir Rafiq Butt during the meeting also briefed PM Nawaz about the preparation of PAF to deal with the security challenges faced by the country and other professional affairs.
