RAWALPINDI – Sunni Tehrik (ST) observed Friday as a protest day across the province against target killings in Islamabad and Karachi.In this connection, ST city chapter organised a protest demonstration outside Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club (RIPC) to press the law enforcement agencies to arrest the assailants of ST activists including those who involved in murder of Khalid Waheed Satti an activist of the Tehrik. Led by STP office-bearer Mufti Liaquat Ali Rizvi, the agitation was participated by Atta-ur-Rehman Dhanial, Allama Tahir Iqbal Chishti, Allama Waseem Abbasi and dozens of other charged activists.Protestors, carrying a huge banner mentioning “Nab the killers of Khalid Waheed immediately”, chanted slogans against the government and demanded arrest of the killers involved in murders of ST activist in Islamabad and Karachi.Addressing the protestors, the speakers condemned the brutal killing of ST activists in Islamabad and Karachi. They said that the law enforcement agencies were showing sheer negligence in apprehending the target killers rather providing them shelter. They said that owing to feeble law and order situation in the country, the lives and public properties were at stake. They said that the terrorists were roaming freely in the country and targeting the innocent people as well as installations wherever and whenever they wanted. Criticising the act of occupation on shrines, they said that STP would not allow anyone to grab the shrines. “ST will block traffic in Islamabad if police did not arrest the killers of Khalid Waheed Abbasi,” they threatened.They demanded of President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice to take some concrete steps to stop target killings in the country that had swallowed thousands of innocent lives so far.
