A private airline passenger plane carrying 150 passengers crashed in the Margalla Hills on Wednesday morning. So far 10 bodies have been recovered, according to CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayatullah. The dead bodies have been sent to PIMS hospital. According to Spokesman PIA Sultan Hassan , a Blue Air passenger plane ED-202 carrying 152 passengers including 5 children, two infants and 6 crew members departed from Karachi airport at 7:50 am for Islamabad however during the flight suddenly all contact was lost with the flight with the control tower and after a while it crashed near Daman-e-Koh on Margalla Hills due to inclement weather. Eyewitnesses said people noticed airbus flying at very low altitude near Daman-e-Koh and soon they heard a loud explosion and smoke coming out from the site. He said that due to loss in contact with the plane the pilot could not have known about the weather in Islamabad. According to Air Blue sources, the Air Blue flight was being flown by Pilot Pervez Iqbal Ch and first officer Mujtabian Chugtai. CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayatullah talking to media told that so far 10 bodies have been recovered from the site and finding any survivors would be a miracle On the orders of Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik, police and rescue teams were sent on the spot immediately and the help of Pakistan Air Force has also been sought. Thick clouds of smoke were witnessed rising from the Margalla Hills. The rescue teams have been dispatched to the site of the incident but they are facing extreme difficulties due to weather and no walking terrains at the site. Three army aviation helicopters are engaged in rescue operation. An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have expressed their shock and grief over the crash of an aircraft on the Margalla hills, due to bad weather. The President and Prime Minister directed immediate rescue efforts and coordinated measures to reach the inaccessible site Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik has also condoled over the loss of lives in the tragic incident. A cell has been established in National Crisis Management Cell, Ministry of Interior with Telephone Numbers 051-9211223-4.
