ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued summons to about nine individuals for further interrogation and investigations against Tauqir Sadiq, former chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and principal accused of multi-billion rupees scam, sources told The Nation on Saturday.
According to details, the NAB has summoned the energy tycoon Iqbal Z Ahmed for the purpose of cross-verification of the record regarding inflow and outflow of crude gas for Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL) filtration plant, the sources added.
Earlier, the energy tycoon during his last appearance before the NAB investigation team on June 19th provided record about the inflows and outflows of JJVL. On this second summon, cros-verification would be conducted with the record provided by a member of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) Board of Directors, the sources added.
The NAB managed the attainment of the actual record of the SSGCL through its own but the SSGCL management did not send the record to the bureau despite many notices issued to the gas company, the sources added.
Similarly, the NAB has issued summon to Imtaiaz Haider, an official of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), who is allegedly involved in informing the big private broker business companies. He was summoned before and now the NAB investigation and interrogation team would record his statement regarding the stock manipulation and shares business of gas companies, the sources further added.
In the same way the NAB has summoned Munawar Ahnmed Baseer, former Managing Director (MD) SSGCL and a complainant against Tauqir Sadiq in OGRA scam. The NAB has issued summon notice to Imdadullah, a complainant and official of OGRA, the sources added.
The NAB has also summoned Dr Anwar Sehto of SSGCL who was a complainant against the former chairman OGRA, the sources added.
When contacted to seek the official version about the issuance of the summon notices to the above mentioned individuals, a NAB official on condition of anonymity said the bureau has dispatched the summon notices to the individuals for further interrogation and investigation against Tauqir.
Replying to a question, the official claimed that the NAB would summon more individuals in this scam.
