Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif represented the sentiments of not only Pakistanis but of Muslim Ummah as well in his speech at the United Nations’ General Assembly.
Talking to INP here on Saturday, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said the Prime Minister delivered historical speech in the UN General Assembly. He said that the PM courageously raised the issue of Kashmir and reminded the UN and international community of their promise to give Kashmiris their right to self-determination, which made it clear to the world that resolution of Kashmir dispute is pivotal for establishing peace in the South Asia.
He said that Indian rulers and media should fulfill the promise made by Nehru than panicking on reminder of Kashmir issue by PM Nawaz Sharif. He said that Nehru had committed at the United Nations to give Kashmiris right of self-determination in 1948 and international community also promised to hold plebiscite in Kashmir. It is now duty of the world and Indian rulers to give Kashmiris their due right.
Senator Pervaiz Rasheed maintained that the views of PM Nawaz on terrorism and drone attacks were at par with the sentiments of the nation.
To a question, the minister said that the proposed meeting of Pakistani and Indian premiers in New York is a positive omen. He said that the international community should also play their role to help improve the relations and resolve disputes between the two countries. He said that economic activities will speed up by the restoration of peace process and with normalization of relations between Pakistan and India, two billion people of the region will benefit.
To another question, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said after the PM’s return home, Interior Minister Nisar Chaudhry will brief him on the recent gruesome incidents of terrorism. After that it would be decided whether another All Parties Conference (APC) be convened or not to discuss the matter of dialogue with Taliban, he added.
