ISLAMABAD - The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has placed the Haj flights schedule of Government Scheme on its website for the convenience of intending pilgrims, says Joint secretary Haj Shahzad Ahmed said
He said that any pilgrim can see his on the website his/her flight schedule by just submitting application number/Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC).
The ministry has also been working to intimate the Haj flight schedule to each intending pilgrim through sending a message on mobile phones. The intimation of Haj flight schedule through mobile message service would be started from next week.
The month long pre Haj operation would begin from September 10 and continue till October 10. The post-Haj flights operation would be initiated from October 20 and concluded on November 19, 2013, he said while disclosing details of the Haj operations. Over 86,000 pilgrims would perform Hajj this year under Government scheme. The ministry has already hired 122 buildings to accommodate Government Scheme Hujjaj.
He said PIA will operate a total of 214 Haj flights to Jeddah and Makkah. The PIA will operate Hajj flights from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan and Sialkot.
In all, PIA will transport more than 70,000 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 160 pre-Haj flights. PIA will operate same number of flights for post-Haj operation.
This year due to ongoing construction of extending facilities at Khana-e-Kaaba the Saudi government has reduced Hajj quota by 20 per cent, he said.
The ministry has issued orders the airlines to strictly adhere to depart and arrival schedule, on failure the heavy fine would be imposed on the airline. He said pilgrims are allowed to carry five liters of Zamzam (subject to conditions of Saudi government).
A committee comprising parliamentarians and officers would monitor the Haj operation. As many as 46,000 pilgrims would not perform the sacred religious obligations due to 20 percent quota cut imposed by the Saudi government.
