Azadi train nearing final destination

ISLAMABAD - Azadi Special Train run by Pakistan Railways in connection with the Independence Day celebrations will enter Balochistan on August 29, after covering more than half of its one-month long journey.
 The train decked with different cultural models and intended to highlight the cultural and historical events associated with Pakistan Movement will conclude its journey in Karachi on September 11 after traveling through all the four provinces and federal capital.
 Waqas Hanif, an official at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), told The Nation that the train, which started its journey from Peshawar on August 11, was carrying 35 artistes on board and would pass through 53 railway stations across the country.  The official said that a special group of artists was also present among the artistes in Azadi Train and was planned to perform puppet shows at every station.
He added that the train had so far traveled to more than half of its destinations where it received an overwhelming response from people.
 
He said that two compartments of the train were dedicated to highlight the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and it also had five 3-D floats representing all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
