Islamabad - The Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Dashgin Shikarov hosted a reception to mark the national day of his country, which was attended by many. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf was the chief guest. National anthems of Pakistan and Azerbaijan were played and cake was also cut by the chief guest along with Russian, Turkish and Central Asian Ambassadors.
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh Suhrab Hossain, when was asked about the absence of Sheikh Haseena Wajid, Prime Minister of Bangladesh from the oath-taking ceremony of Narinder Modi, Prime minister of India, he replied that Sheikh Haseena Wajid was in Japan on an official visit, which was very important for Bangladesh as Japan would extend 5.8 billion dollar loan to Bangladesh. The Turkish Ambassador S Babur Girgin at the event was asked that in the recent European Parliament election, 30pc voters of Europe voted against the European Union, was Turkey still interested to become the EU member, Girgin replied that previously 70pc Turkish were in favor of joining EU while 30pc were against and now the situation has taken a U turn as now only 30pc Turkish are in favor of joining the EU. When Russian Ambassador, Alexey Y Dedov was asked whether the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko would visit Russia, Dadov replied that the Ukrainian President has announced his first visit to Poland after elections. Danish Ambassador Jesper Moller Sorensen was asked to comment on the success of Danish People Party, Sorensen commented that the European Union would exist in the better interest of European people but they would have to reform laws in the best interest of the people of Europe.
Tajik Ambassador Jononov Sherali said PM Nawaz Sharif would visit Dushanbe on June 17 and 18.
