Mamnoon stresses focus on higher education

ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said the present government accords top priority to the promotion of higher education including medical sciences and called upon the universities to focus on quality research in all fields.
The President said this during his meeting with a delegation of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Those present during the meeting included among others Prof Javed Akram, Vice Chancellor Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Prof Dr. Khaliq uz Zaman, Dr. Rao Sohail Yasir Khan and Prof Dr. Tanvir Khaliq.
Highlighting the critical role of the universities, the President urged to focus on the evaluation of the performance of universities as per international standards.
He also stressed upon greater collaboration between the universities and the industry to promote research, job creation and preparing the young generation of the country to efficiently meet the requirements of the market besides being able to compete at the global level in various fields including medical and allied health sciences.
The President assured allout support and patronage to the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University in its educational pursuits and plans and the promotion of health education in Pakistan.
