Troubled Pervez Musharraf, a day before hearing in treason case against him being resumed, former military dictator said only army court could hear trial against him.
Addressing to organization of ex-army officers, First Forum, Musharraf termed treason charges against him as ‘ridiculous’ saying that he had done every act in favour of the country and its betterment.
Musharraf said whatever measures he took on Nov 3, 2007, was in the capacity of Army Chief, and therefore, only military court could hear his case.
Former dictator said he had come to Pakistan as people wanted a change in the country but he was not allowed to contest general elections.
He said that he took revolutionary measures in various sectors aimed at the economic uplift of the country.
Pervez Musharraf said that Pakistan was going down with each day passing, and even common people were missing the prosperity introduced by him during his days in power and when the worth of a dollar was Rs.61 and people were more prosperous.
Musharraf praised new Army chief Raheel Sharif wishing for his success.
“I pray for the success of General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS),” he said, adding that he did not ask for help from anyone.
The former army chief maintained that he would face all difficulties.
“We should work to make Pakistan a progressive and welfare Islamic state,” he concluded.
