Man remanded in ephedrine smuggling case


RAWALPINDI – Control of Narcotics Substance Court (CNSC) on Saturday sent Tauqeer Ali Khan, an accused in ephedrine smuggling case and the right hand of former PPP MNA Syed Ali Musa Gilani, to Adyala Jail on 14 days of judicial remand.Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) investigators reproduced the accused in CNSC after ending of his four day physical remand. The court sent the accused to Adyala Jail on 14 days of judicial remand.Meanwhile, Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) took up Mumbai attack case and summoned five prosecution witnesses to record the statements. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Special Public Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali told the court that India has yet not responded to the letter of Pakistan which she wrote to Indian government about revisit of Judicial Commission to record the statements people related to Mumbai attack case.The defense lawyer Riaz Akram Cheema Advocate, in counter arguments, apprised the court that prosecution intentionally using delaying tactics to prolong the case. The court should take notice of it, he added.ATC No 1 Judge Chaudhry Habib-ur-Rehman later postponed the hearing till April 6, 2013 besides summoning 5 prosecutions witnesses for penning in their statements.
