ISLAMABAD - National game hockey could be a surprise omission from the Inter-provincial Games 2008 as the Olympic Association of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) has yet to decide the inclusion of the game in the games. The games will be held from November 9 to 12 at Peshawar. On Thursday, The Nation learnt here that Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) was showing willing to have hockey included in the provincial competitions. "The hockey associations of the NWFP are divided into two groups and one group has the support of PHF while the other is fully supported by the NWFP Olympic Association," said a source. Later on, Qasim Zia, President PHF told The Nation on telephone that there were some problems in inclusion of hockey in the Inter-provincial Games. But he said the issue would be resolved soon. "I am not fully aware about the facts but there is an issue and we hope it will be settled soon and hockey will be included in the games and trials for the selection of the teams will be conducted on Saturday (tomorrow)," he added.
