Karachi- Death toll rises in Karachi’s Clifton Beach tragedy to 29.
According to police and rescue sources, bodies of twenty one drowned persons have been recovered. Operation to recover remaining bodies will resume on Friday morning. It was suspended last evening due to darkness. According to official sources, 24 dead bodies have so far been retrieved while the death toll has risen to 29. Operation is being carried out by volunteers of Emergency Response Centres and Pakistan Navy. Navy gun boats are also searching for bodies in the deep sea. Meanwhile, IG Police Sindh has constituted a committee to ascertain facts and fix responsibility for the Clinfton beach tragedy. Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan has directed Commissioner Karachi including DHA and other concerned departments’ officers to use every possible resource to trace out the bodies of those who were drowned in the sea water yesterday. He also directed the district administration to ensure coordinated efforts with Army, Navy and Air Force in rescue operation to immediately complete the task of tracing out the bodies of those who are still missing.
