Ajmer Nagri Police accused of torturing old lady to death

KARACHI - Relatives of an aged woman, who died allegedly due to severe torture by police, took her body to Karachi Press Club, wherein they staged a protest demo. The aggrieved family members chanted slogans against police. They charged a party of Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police had raided house of one Falak Sher, in Mianwali Colony late on Friday night. During the raid, policemen allegedly thrashed his mother, Sughra Bibi, who could not survive the torture and died. On Saturday the autopsy was performed at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after which heirs moved to KPC. Pasban Karachi president Syed Ashraf Hussain said Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police was trying save skin of accused cops and it had given the incident other color in the FIR by putting irrelevant sections in it. He demanded the CCPO and IG police to take quick notice of incident and provide aggrieved family with justice. Deputy Inspector General of the West Zone Aleem Jaffery while talking to The Nation claimed that the policemen did not misbehave. Falak Sher snatched two mobile phones, wrist watch and cash from a citizen Khushnood Ali on Friday night within the jurisdiction of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri PS. The DIG further said the police raided Sher's house to arrest him. "I can not say exactly what happened to the deceased. I think she was a heart patient, that's why she could no bear with the intensity of the happening and died" DIG claimed. He said that the postmortem and the CT scan of the deceased have been done. Meanwhile, an inquiry team to probe the case has also been formed. The policemen would be punished if they found guilty, DIG added. Akbar, husband of the deceased, told the Pasbaan leader that the police have already made a fake case against his son Falak Sher and now they have arrested him in another case just to make him their spy and use for their interests. Pasbaan got informed that the police are trying to cover their crime by making fake FIRs.
