Civic issues in SITE area to be resolved on priority

KARACHI - On the directives of Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) chief Misbah uddin Fareed visited SITE on Sunday, and assured that water and sanitation issues of the area would be addressed on urgent basis.
The KWSB managing director said the industrial units operational in SITE were crucial for the industrial growth of the country, and therefore all civic agencies including KWSB, is committed to facilitate them.
During his visit and urgent meeting with the industrialists of SITE, he said that the governor had directed him to review the problems faced by these industrialists and ensure to develop a liaison between KWSB officers, engineers and industrialists.
“We are committed to resolve these promptly and on long term basis,” he said.
The KWSB chief assured the industrialists that action is being taken against hydrant mafia and those indulged in water theft as this was the major cause of frequent water shortages in SITE. Misbahuddin Fareed said action is being taken against these criminal elements and it was only recently that in coordination with deputy commissioner - central and area police that an illegal hydrant in SITE area was closed and an FIR was registered against its owners.
The KWSB chief said the board will also solve the problems related to sanitation in the area in close coordination with the industrialists.
