KARACHI  - In the wake of annual reconstruction of Bhit Gas Field, CNG stations across the province of Sindh will remain closed three days a week during April.
According to All Pakistan CNG Association sources, schedule for the closure is expected to be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in a week.
It is to be mentioned here that the schedule for gas closure has seen abruptness with sudden notices, adding to the woes of the people. Furthermore, extremely high number of consumers, including heavy vehicles and large number of stations make it mandatory for immense supply of the utility.
Cases in the court relating to the issue have also been filed and heard, with CNG regulatory and providing bodies sometimes agreeing to a joint formula, which still hasn’t been implemented in letter and spirit.
It required restricting the utility to 1,000CC cars and domestic consumers to ensure its lasting and manageable supply.
Environment preservation drive to educate citizens: Mobilink Foundation partnered with the Pakistan Life Saving Foundation (PALS) to carry out a beach cleaning activity at the Sea View here.
A statement on Monday said that Sea View is one of the Karachi’s most frequented beaches, with thousands of visitors every day, which also results in littering along the scenic coastline.
It said that the Mobilink Foundation Torchbearers and PALS volunteers conducted the beach cleaning activity, which lasted for over four hours and collected over 200 kg of garbage.
The activity was part of Mobilink Foundation’s continuing drive to preserve Pakistan’s eco-system and bio-diversity, with another ongoing initiative being the cleaning of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad.
All waste material collected from these activities is recycled or disposed of in conformity with environment friendly measures.
Head of Corporate Communications, Mobilink, Omar Manzur, said that Pakistan has been blessed with a diversity of natural environments and our coastlines are some of the most beautiful in the world.
However, pollution from sewage and industrial effluents, as well as littering, are serious threats to this marine habitat.
This beach cleaning activity is part of our ongoing initiative across Pakistan to increase awareness and inculcate a sense of responsibility for the environment among our citizens’, he added.
Pakistan Life Saving Foundation (PALS) is a non-profit organisation aiming to provide free public services, including life-guards and other safety measures, along the beaches of Karachi.
