KARACHI - Rejecting the amendments in the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh have decided to move to courts against the delimitation in the Sindh province.
The decision was taken in PML-N meeting called to form party policy following the SLGA 2013, Local Bodies election and delimitation in Sindh province at Muslim League House Karsaz Karachi here on Sunday.
Imdad Chandio, Shah Muhammad Shah, Ali Akbar Gujjar, Ismail Rahu, Irfan Marwat, Haji Shafi Jamoot, Humayun Khan, Dost Muhammad Faizi, Khawaja Tariq Nazir, Nasir Uddin Mehmood, Raja Abdullah, Munawar Raza, Ghulam Mustafa Advocate and party officials of various districts of Sindh province were present in the meeting.
PML-N General Secretary Iqbal Zafar Jaghra addressing the meeting via telephone from London directed the party leaders and workers to start preparations for the upcoming Local Bodies elections and defeat the opponent’s plan of hijacking the polls.
Expressing serious reservations over the delimitation of Local Bodies seats in the province, PML-N Sindh General Secretary Salim Zia said that PPP to ensure its victory in the Local Bodies election has attempted to exercise the delimitation as per its desires. He said that PML-N rejects amendments in the SLGA 2013, adding, that polls would not be effective without the finalisation of appropriate delimitation across the province.
He said that PML-N leaders have submitted complaints in every district over the changes in boundaries of LG seats and the party has now decided to approach the country’s superior courts for justice.
During the meeting PML-N Sindh leaders blamed the provincial government for not taking the Opposition parties in confidence over the amendments in SLGA 2013 ,adding, that the amendments have impeded the participation of independent candidates in the LB polls and termed it against the law and Constitution of Pakistan.
Alleging pre-polling rigging, PML-N leaders demanded to conduct the upcoming LG polls under supervision of the judiciary.
PML-N leaders further stated that party will not leave the ground open for the opponents and will contest the LG polls throughout Sindh.
