2 succumb to target killing near Power House Chowrangi

KARACHI - A man was killed and two others were wounded when two unidentified outlaws attacked a restaurant with a locally made bomb near Tariq Road here on Sunday.
As per details, two armed motorcycle riders threw a locally made bomb at a restaurant within the premises of Ferozabad Police Station.
Three restaurant waiters, who were busy in their routine duty, sustained severe injuries in the blast. They were hurried to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where 40-year-old Khadim Hussain succumbed to injuries during treatment while Asif Razzak and Sadiq were admitted for further treatment.
Following the incident, extra contingent of law enforcers including police and Rangers reached the site and cordoned off the blast site. The bomb disposal squad experts said the outlaws threw a tennis ball bomb into the restaurant.
According to SHO Safdar Mashwani, police were trying to ascertain motive behind the incident; however further investigation was underway.
Separately, two men fell prey to a target killing incident near Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi area. Police said that two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire at the car the victims were travelling in. The victims, who sustained bullet injuries, were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced both of them dead. Later, the deceased were identified as Abdul Ghaffar and Hafeezuddin. SHO Sajid Javed said the deceased were friend-cum-partners and used to run their battery shop in North Karachi area, adding that they were on their way to homes when armed motorcyclists targeted them over some unexplained reasons. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, police gunned down an alleged outlaw and arrested his injured accomplice during an encounter in Shah Faisal Colony.
Police said the deceased and his accomplice were busy looting valuables from a passerby, when a patrolling mobile reached at the site. Following the situation, the culprits opened fire on the police team that also retaliated. In the crossfire between both sides, one of the bandits was killed while his accomplice sustained injuries.  Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from the bandits.
