Rangers arrest 150 suspects in Karachi

The Rangers on Wednesday nabbed 150 suspected persons during a search operation in Orangi Town and other disturbed areas of the city. According to details, at least 2,000 Rangers personnel along with heavy contingent of ladies police conducted search operation in Orangi Town areas including Kati Pahari, Bukhari Colony, Qasba Colony, Banaras Bridge, Qaddafi Chowk, Ali Garh and Metro Cinema and arrested at least 150 suspects. According to Rangers officials, they also recovered arms and ammunition from some houses during search operation in the tense areas including Quaid-i-Azam Colony, Abul Hasan Isfahani and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Official sources said that the operation was launched after intelligence information and some specific points were searched. The entire area was cordoned off during the operation and no body was allowed exit or entry in the area. The counter-terrorism squad of Rangers also participated in the operation which continued for two and half hours. Meanwhile, IG Sindh Wajid Durrani said a general operation would be launched in the city and action would be taken in the areas affected by target killing incidents. On the other hand, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said only targeted action was taken in the affected areas. He said this action would continue till the arrest of all the miscreants. He said no incident of target killing occurred during the last 24 hours and the dead bodies being found now are old ones.
