Killings continue; eight more dead
 
 
 

KARACHI – Eight people were killed in separate violent incidents here on Saturday.
A man was gunned down in the recent wave of sectarian killing. He was identified as an owner of a local factory, Sarwar Hussain, 35, belonging to Shia community.
He was shot dead at Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road located in Agra Taj Colony within the jurisdiction of Kalri police station. According to SHO Chand Khan Niazi, the victim was going home in his car when two armed culprits riding a motorcycle targeted him. He said that the victim was shot twice and died on the way to Civil Hospital. Police suspected sectarian motive the reason behind the killing.
An alleged drug peddler was shot dead during an exchange of fire between two gangs in Manghopir area. He was identified as Asghar Ali, 25. Police said that the incident took place when two groups of drug peddlers, including Ameen Group and Kodu Group collided with each other and an exchange of fire took place between them. Resultantly, one person from the Ameen group was killed. The culprits managed to escape before the police reached the site.
A young passenger, Faizan, 20, was shot dead and a woman injured near Valika Chowrangi within SITE police station remits. Police said that the incident took place when the victims were boarding a passenger bus. Two armed men tried to snatch the cell phones, cash and other valuables from the passengers and opened fire on offering resistance. Police said that the victims were the residents of Orangi Town and was on way to Saddar when the incident took place.
A security guard was shot dead at the commercial plaza on II Chundrigar Road in Aram Bagh police precincts. He was identified as Rahib Ali Soomro, 36. He was deployed at an office of the local newspaper situated on the 12th floor of the building. Police officials said that deceased shot himself dead over unexplained reasons.
A private factory worker was killed after kidnapping in Baldia Town. He was identified as Sheikh Iftikhar, 28. Police said that deceased resident of Baldia area and went missing when he was on way to home from his workplace in SITE area on Friday evening. Police officials suspected that unidentified men after kidnapping the victim and shot him multiple times over unexplained reasons and later dumped his body at the abandon place.
Shahid Baloch, 38, was found dead from Mewa Shah graveyard within the limits of Pak Colony police station. Police said that the victim was the resident of Kalri, Lyari. He was the labourer by profession.
In Sohrab Goth, an internet cafe owner Waheed Shahani, 35, and his customer Abdul Aleem, 32, were targeted in Faqira Goth. Shahani died at the spot while Aleem succumbed to injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. DSP Qamar Ahmed said that two armed men riding a motorcycle targeted the victims. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained as the family did not approach the police.
A young man, Abbas Fida Ali, 30, was shot and injured in a targeted attack in North Nazimabad in Shara-e-Noor Jahan police precincts. Police officials said that the victim belonging to Bohra community was standing at a fish shop when armed motorcyclists targeted him over unexplained reasons. He was taken to ASH with critical injuries.
