Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said Pakistan is engaged in fight against forces which are trying to disrupt peace in the region.
Addressing induction ceremony of PNS Aslat in Pakistan Navy’s fleet, the Prime Minister said that construction of PNS Aslat in Pakistan was great sign of growing ties between Pakistan and its all time tested friend China.
He said friendship with China is pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy reiterated that this friendship is higher than the highest mountain of the world and deeper than the deepest ocean of the world.
Nawaz Sharif said construction of Gawadar port and its road and railway link with China and central Asia would be proved a game changer in the whole region.
Mentioning Pakistan’s geographic and geo-strategic location and its significance, the PM said economic corridor would play a major role for progress and prosperity in the region.
Praising Pakistan navy efficiency, Nawaz Sharif said our navy is defending country’s water borders and protecting global route of oil passage in the Arabia Sea.
He said Pak navy efforts for combating piracy in Arabia Sea were commendable despite having limited sources.
He said Pakistan is contributing effectively to fight the forces that are out to destabilize and destroy international borders.
Acknowledging the assistance of China in the development of PNS Aslat frigate‚ Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan and China share time tested relations that stretches back to 1950. He said Pakistan views relations with China as enduring multi dimensional and deep rooted which always stood the test of time. Pakistan relations with China form a pillar of the country's foreign policy. Pakistan deeply values Chinese support and cooopperation in all domains.
He was confident that defense cooperation between the two countries will grow from strength to strength in the years to come and serve as a source of improving peace‚ stability and security in the region.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged Chinese support in the development of Gwadar deep sea port saying this port will help open new vistas of growth and prosperity in the country. He said this port will become game changer in respect of trade and economy of the region after the development of necessary rail and road infrastructure.
Earlier Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Tuesday for a two day visit
A guard of honour was presented to Nawaz upon his arrival to a ceremony held by the Pakistan Navy.
During his visit, he will also meet political leaders to discuss the situation of law and order in Karachi.
Security in the city was put on high alert to prepare for his arrival.
A cabinet meeting will be held on Wednesday, officials believe that the federal cabinet might give a nod to a ‘targeted or surgical operation’ in Karachi. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
All eyes are on this meeting, which is likely to result in important decisions regarding the city’s law and order situation.
