KWSB cuts twelve multi-storey buildings’ connections

KARACHI - Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Revenue Generation Cell’s special team has started disconnecting water and sewerage connections of 12 multi-storey buildings in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Town and also confiscated their water motors.
The spokesman of the organisation said the connections of these 12 multi-storey buildings were not approved by the KW&SB. KW&SB Revenue Generation Cell had notified the residents of these multi-storey projects. Despite several notices the neither the dues were paid nor any efforts were made to register the connection.
KW&SB team as a final resort took action and connections to Al-Ghafoor Tower, Aisha Pride, Imam Heights, Maimar City Tower, Faisal Center, Samea Comforts, Samea Residency, Samea Bridge View, Samea Silk Mall and Makka Towers located in PECHS, MCHS, Shaheed Millat Road, Sharrafabad and Bahadurabad were disconnected and water motors were confiscated.
On the directions of Deputy Managing Director (RRG) Disconnection In charge along with concerned Executive Engineers carried out the disconnection drive against these 12 multistory buildings. Whereas legal actions, as per revenue act, would be carried out against these defaulters, which would subject them to fine and sanction.
The KW&SB MD had ordered the formulation of Revenue Generation Cell due to large number of illegal connections in the city. These illegal connections cost KW&SB billions of rupees in Tax and water connection charges.
He directed the Revenue Department to continue the drive in order to increase the revenue and reduce the load on KW&SB system appealed from the citizens to pay their water bills on time. He said that KW&SB bills were of minimal amount and if the citizens pay their bills on time KW&SB can ensure swift provision of water and sewerage facilities to all the citizens of Karachi. He said that it was a civic duty that the citizens pay their bill on time and cooperate with KW&SB administration.
