KARACHI – Five people were gunned down in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis on Sunday.
A doctor was mowed down at his clinic in Siddiq Colony of Azizabad area.
Police officials said the victim, namely Farooq Ismail Suriya, 54, a resident of Gulistan-e-Johar, was present at his clinic when unidentified armed men stormed inside and sprayed him with bullets. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. A police party rushed and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. Later, it was handed over to the heirs. The officials said the victim belonged to Okhai Memon Jamaat and the motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained. Investigation is underway.
A man was killed and another injured inside their house in FB area police. Police officials said unidentified bandits barged into the house and opened fire on Ramzan, 35, and his relative, Rafiq when they put up resistance. As a result, they both sustained bullet wounds and later Ramzan succumbed to his gunshot injuries.
The bandits tried to flee but the area people caught them. They were identified as Saleem and Ammaryar. They received a beating from them and were later handed over to police along with pistols and two mobiles phone. The body and the injured were taken to ASH, where doctors termed Rafiq’s condition stable.
A labourer was shot dead in Banaras area. Police officials said the victim, Majid Hussain, 23 was sitting outside his house, when pillion armed riders appeared on the scene and opened fire on him, causing his instant death. The body was shifted to ASH for postmortem. Police officials said the victim hailed form Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and suspected that he might have been killed over tribal dispute. Investigation is in progress.
A man was gunned down and another wounded near a public school in Azizabad area. Police officials said Sohail was killed and Rafiq received gunshot injuries. They were attacked by unidentified culprits riding a motorbike when they were going somewhere. They both sustained bullet injuries and were taken to ASH, where doctor pronounced Sohail as brought dead. The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
Separately, body of a man was found from Rasheedabad area of Baldia Town.
Identification of the victim could not be ascertained. Police officials said he appeared to be 28 years old. He was hit by bullets and his body bore torture marks.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities, and later moved to a morgue for identification.
