Three bodies recovered in Karachi

KARACHI - Three bodies were recovered from different parts of the metropolis on Sunday.Bodies of two men were recovered in Orangi area. Police shifted them to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Asad Iqbal, son of Zafar Iqbal, and Shahid, 31, son of Mohammad Rafiq.  Police officials said the victims, residents of Orangi Town, were abducted by unidentified kidnappers before killing. Both were shot multiple times and tortured. SHO Naeem Ahmed said the two victims used to work at a printing press.Asad’s father was a wireless operator in the Police Department. Both were known as police informers. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later handed over to the heirs after medico-legal formalities. A case has been registered against unidentified killers on the complaint of Asad’s brother, Athar. Another body was found in Bandhani Colony of Lyari area. Police officials said that unidentified gunmen kidnapped and killed him. The body was shifted to a morgue for identification, after autopsy at the ASH. A case has been registered against the unidentified killers.Separately, an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, identified as Rashid, was shot and injured in a drive-by shooting in Malir area. He was ferried to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre with critical injuries. Police officials said the victim was associated with the MQM’s unit-43. He was shot thrice while the motive behind the incident could not be ascertained until the filing of this report.  Another MQM activist, Ali Patni, went missing on Saturday night from Kharadar locality. Patni was said to be associated with the MQM Ranchore Lane unit 20. Police officials suspected that the victim might have been kidnapped by Lyari gangsters. Further investigation is in progress.Separately, an elderly woman, identified as Naseeb Bibi, 60, was gunned down in Gulbahar area while two others, including her son, namely Taj Mohammad, and husband Nazar Mohammad were wounded. The deceased and the injured were taken to the ASH for autopsy and medical treatment. DSP Rustam Khattak said that initial investigation suggested that the incident took place inside the victims’ house over a family row, adding that the victim elder’s son opened fire on her and others during a quarrel. The officer said after committing the crime, he managed to flee from the scene. A man, identified as Waheed Ali, was shot and injured within the remits of the Defence Police Station. SP Saddar Farrukh said the man was injured by the firing of the security guard deployed at a medical store in Defense Phase I, adding that the security guard opened fire at him over a scuffle between the victim and a medical store owner over unexplained reason. Police officials said they detained the security guard and the medical store owner.
