KARACHI - Law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested 90 suspects during the targeted operation.
The arrested persons included the brother of Lyari gang chief, Noor Muhammad aka Baba Ladla. Police sources revealed that Zahid Ladla wanted to the police in more than 100 criminal cases including murders, extortion, kidnapping and others. He was arrested from a bungalow at Khayaban-e-Badar, DHA. The authorities concerned declined to comment on his arrest but it was the first big catch since the operation began.
In another raid of law enforcers at Lane 5, Mosa Lane, a close aide of Sheraz Comrade gang was arrested. Accused Babar Deputy was arrested with some of his accomplices while huge cache of weapons was also recovered during the operation.
Mubina Town police claimed to have arrested three accused persons after an encounter from Sohrab Goth area and recovered weapons from their possession. The accused persons included Bashir, Habibullah and Faizullah.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead during an exchange of fire between a shopkeeper and bandits at Tariq Road, Karachi.
Police said the gunmen were trying to rob Munir Gull but he managed to take out his pistol and started firing on the robbers. As result, an exchange of fire took place and one of the shopkeepers, Adam Khan, 16, sustained bullet wounds and died on the way to hospital. Bandits managed to flee when police took Gull into custody.
In another incident, a man who killed his wife was arrested from the jurisdictions of Sir Syed police station. Police said Ghulam Qadir, resident of slum area of Bilal Colony, killed and dumped his wife Razia and tried to escape to his hometown Rahim Yar Khan. Qadir along with his two children was going to his hometown when police found him suspicious and arrested. During investigation, he revealed that he killed his wife over suspicious relations.
