PWCCA shuns PCB claims of first time appearance in Women WC

KARACHI - The cricket body that introduced Pakistan women's cricket in international arena about over a decade ago has dismissed the claim that Pakistan women's cricket team would be appearing for the first time in Women World Cup. In a statement released here Wednesday, the Pakistan Women Cricket Control Association has termed as false the claim by the PCB that the team that it had dispatched to Australia will be making their debut in World Cup. It reminded that Pakistan women made its debut in 1997 in the 6th World Cup held in India. The PWCCA headed by Shaiza Khan has picked the team that made its international debut making history. History was made 12 years ago, the statement added. The women's team has already represented Pakistan in the 6th Women's World Cup in India, 1997 under the auspicious of PWCCA the pioneers of women's cricket in Pakistan, it added. The team had already played 40 one-day international and three test matches when women's cricket was allegedly 'hijacked' by the PCB under the chairman Shaharyar Khan. The statement claimed that PWCCA has already filed a writ petition in the Honourable Lahore High Court, Lahore through Barrister Zafarullah Khan. The case will come before the Honourable Court of Justice Tariq Shamim regarding the dispute with PCB over women's cricket, it claimed.
