KARACHI - MQM while ruling out the Sindh government’s proposal of banning internet telephony applications has termed the ongoing targeted operation, victimisation of Karachiites.
In a statement issued here on Friday, MQM leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Faisal Sabzwari deplored the increase of the armed robberies in students’ buses.
He said last month criminals robbed the students of the Karachi University near Banaras Bridge. Now, the same incident happened with the NED University’s students and criminals robbed mobiles phones, cash and other valuables.
He said Sindh government was harassing the residents of Karachi by taking ineffective measures. It should address the criminals’ activities besides taking unproductive steps of imposing ban on social media and other means of communication.
He further added that criminals were extorting money from the people. They are killing and blowing up people who refuse to pay extortion. Two days ago they threw a grenade at the clinic of a doctor in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Today they attacked the house of a bank manager with grenades in Frontier Colony because he had refused to pay extortion money. Criminals are robbing buses and were carrying out kidnappings for ransom as usual.
He deplored that the Sindh Government had initiated political victimization instead of taking actions against the criminals. He said the provincial government should take action against the criminals who were carrying out armed robberies, kidnappings and subversive activities.
Meanwhile MQM’s Deputy Parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izharul Hasan while replying to PPP’s opposition leader in National Assembly, Khursheed Shah’s statement, said if all the residents of Sindh were Sindhis then why the PPP has not placed an Urdu-speaking on the slot of the Sindh chief minister. Khuwajha further questioned the PPP leader to mention the quantity of Urdu-speaking staff and officials working in the Sindh Secretariat and other provincial government institutes. He said if the Urdu-speaking are the residents of the province then why the PPP has implemented the quota system that resulted in differences between the Sindhis and Urdu-speaking citizens.
