KARACHI - A Ukrainian worker was arrested on Tuesday after found involve in killing of his associate worker (Ukrainian national) two days ago, said police. According to the police, a 30-year-old Ukrainian field worker of the Tabbani Group at a project of the Pakistan Steel Mills, who was killed by his associate. The compatriot of the deceased was arrested in his murder charge, police claimed that during the interrogation he confessed his crime. Police said that the deceased Dyatlonyuriy was killed of a stab wound to the abdomen in mysterious circumstances on Sunday. Earlier, the project director, the victim's compatriot, Yaskoov did not press for any legal proceedings as they said the victim had died accidentally. "He gave us an undertaking that he did not want any legal action," he added. Yaskoov told in his statement, recorded to the police, that the victim was cutting vegetables in the kitchen when the knife slipped from his hand which pierced his abdomen. On Monday late night, Yaskoov himself handed the killer namely Kuzin Volodymyr over to the police when Volodymyr himself confessed about the murder. Police, however, on behalf of Yaskoov has also registered an FIR number 203/08. Police had taken his remand for four days on the court's orders. Commenting on the matter, Bin Qasim Town SP Abdullah Sheikh told the mediamen that the police had visited the place of the incident and found the knife from there. "We also wrote a letter for performing postmortem and finally we have found the postmortem reports which cleared that deceased died due to knife stab." While, the Station Investigation Officer (SIO) Shaukat Malang explaining the incident said that initially the murderer had confessed that he went to the victim's apartment number 6 of the D-2 block of the Steel Mills Township, where they had some drink as per routine. "The dispute started over the liquor matter, first they had started exchanging strong words and than started fighting during which he put knife in his belly," he said. It is pertinent to mention here that almost 100 Ukrainians had come to Karachi since one year for working in the said project of the Steel Town for two years on the basis of contract. Almost two men reside in each apartment.
